Dressed up to the ‘nines’ to receive Northern Design Award
2016 has been a huge year for Optime and we couldn’t think of a better way to draw it to a close than by announcing two very talented designers have won an award for a project we provided lighting for.
Lee Stamps and Jamie Shawcross won the Restaurant and Bar Design award for The Nine Arches public house and restaurant in Newton-le-Willows, St Helens. Their concept drew inspiration from the history of the surrounding area and was judged to feature ‘strong rustic charm’. Lee and Jamie were complimented on their sympathetic preservation of the venue which was a former chapel, Sunday school and pet shop and had become a local landmark building.
Lee and Jamie wanted to use a wide range of lighting throughout the building including bespoke iron and blown glass statement chandeliers which hang from the vaulted ceilings, simple and contemporary over-bar pendants, classic wall fixtures to highlight locally-themed art work, large copper statement pendants over booth seating, classic globe feature fixtures in dining areas and industrial-themed but delicate pendants in cloakrooms.
We loved working with Lee and Jamie, offer them our huge congratulations and look forward to watching them continue their ascent as Northern stars…
